Sangani off to meet Tiger Woods
Roshani Sangani had the honour of walking away with the annual HSBC Premier Challenge Trophy after her blazing performance at the HSBC
Premier Golf Championship held at Nuwara Eliya last weekend. She clinched the coveted challenge trophy by becoming the overall champ after her sterling performances at Division ‘C’, Seniors and Ladies categories, which she won with a score of 32 points on a better counter attack.
Rohan de Silva won the Division ‘A’ and ‘B’ titles with a score of 31 points.
A unique feature in this year’s event was the first-ever pre event ‘swing under the stars’, which tested the skills of accuracy of participants with only a ‘driver’, paving the way for a fun and competitive competition of night golf on September 5. Golfers had to swing an LED lit golf ball which illuminated with every stroke, lighting up the atmosphere. This unique competition was much enjoyed by all participants with Amal Cabraal winning the event for control and accuracy of his drive.
After her win at this year’s HSBC Premier Golf Championship, overall champ Sangani stated, “This is a fantastic opportunity for all golf enthusiasts to see up-close their personal favourites, mine being Tiger Woods, Rory Mcllroy and Adam Scott. I look forward to seeing them all play at the HSBC WGC Champions Tournament in China.”
The overall winners were each presented with fully sponsored hospitality packages to witness the HSBC WGC Championship scheduled to take place at the Sheshan International Golf Club in Shanghai, China from November 6 to 9. This year, over 120 HSBC Premier Golfers competed in the annual HSBC Premier Golf Tournament held at the picturesque Nuwara Eliya Golf Club on September 6.
