My pet

Pets come in all colours, sizes and varieties. My pet is an adorable white Cheshire kitten named Roxy. She is only one year old but she is extremely playful and is always ready to explore.
I got Roxy as a present from my parents for Christmas and from then onwards, my life has turned into a roller coaster. I feed her rice and fish. She also loves to drink milk. She has her own cozy basket for her to sleep in. She loves patting a ball of wool all around the house and sometimes I catch her chasing birds.
As naughty as she is, she is also very intelligent. When my aunt, who doesn’t like cats, comes to visit, she always stays out of the way.
Roxy is the spark of my life! I know that dogs are supposed to be man’s best friend, but my best friend is my kitten Roxy.

Birds
There are many kinds of birds. They are parrots, peacocks, mynahs, larks, pigeons, etc. Most birds can fly, but the ostrich is a heavy bird and cannot fly. Birds have feathers,
a beak and legs. Some beaks are long and some are curved.
Some birds migrate from one country to another. Birds can chirp and some birds can talk. The most beautiful bird is the peacock.
Some people keep birds in cages. Kumana is a famous bird sanctuary. Birds make the environment beautiful. They lay eggs in nests. There are different shapes of nests. Some eggs are small and some are big. Bird watching is an interesting hobby.

I wish, I wish
Everyone has hopes and dreams. They vary from one individual to another, from the dreams of a child to the sophisticated wishes of an entrepreneur. We all want to make them a reality. Our dreams, inconsiderate of its maturity range, should be ones that help the world to be a better place.
“I wish, I wish,” for none other than world peace. The Earth on which we dwell, is like a minefield, ready to hurt or destroy us at any time and can take a nature far worse than World War I and II which devoured innocent lives, mercilessly.

Jealousy, hatred and selfishness are a few aspects which roam the Earth seeking the ruin of souls. Tension and unfriendliness between family members and friends can be more fatal than a nuclear bomb. People who face such things, take worse action on others, like revenge.

Thus, beginning as a small misunderstanding, wars can arise. War is selfish, dangerous and evil.
It kills, it hurts.
But consider peace. Is it not loving, helpful and wonderful? It is. It creates an atmosphere where everyone is treated equally, regardless of race, caste or religion. Peace is something everyone will cherish, something which makes the world better.

So, I wish, I wish, that everyone will be able to live in harmony and heal the wounded and torn world.

Nature
Grass spreading,
Sun shining,
Flowers blooming,
It’s called Nature!

Trees laughing,
Me, dancing,
Clouds swaying,
It’s called Nature!

Wind blowing,
Sky shading,
People running,
It’s called Nature!

Rain falling,
Umbrellas popping,
Flowers dying,
It’s called Nature!

The end of a legend
It was a great scenario to all of the people in the country as another test cricket hero retired from the test cricket format. There is a very big space to fill the No. 4 spot in the batting line-up. It was Mahela Jayawardena who said the final good-bye from test cricket.
He played 149 matches and scored 11,814 runs. His best individual score was 374. The biggest partnership in test cricket was made by Mahela and his best friend Sangakkara. The partnership was 624 as Sanga got out for 287, then it was over.

Mahela played test cricket for about 17 years and also was the  captain of Sri Lanka.
It was a great sendoff for him as Sri Lanka won the test match series against Pakistan 2 – 0. He scored 59, 26, 4, and 54 in his last four innings. He has saved so many cricket  matches and the last century he scored was against South Africa,
scoring 165 runs. Mahela Jayawardena is a true legend for Sri Lanka and he will be remembered forever.
