The Sri Lanka junior paddlers returned home after an admirable performance at the Asian Junior Table Tennis Championship 2014 held in Mumbai, India last week. Seven youngsters — two boys and five girls represented Sri Lanka at the five-day competition held at the NSCL Stadium in Mumbai.

Sri Lanka was positioned overall ninth in the Cadet Girls’ Team event while the Junior Girls’ were placed tenth overall. The Cadet Boys were placed 11th.

Shehara Bandara of Mahamaya Girls’ School and Hansani Kapugeekiyana of Visakha Vidyalaya competed in the Cadet Girls’ Team category, which became ninth overall. Three paddlers – Ruvini Kannangara of Musaeus College, Muthumali Priyadarshani of Devananda Vidyalaya Ambalangoda and Thedini Thushara of Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda – competed in the Junior Girls event. Dishanka Tennakoon of Dharmaraja College Kandy and Dinul de Silva of Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda competed in the Cadet Boys’ Team event. Dushan de Silva and Priyani Dissanayake accompanied the youngsters as the coach and lady chaperon respectively.

After completing Asian Junior Table Tennis Championships 2014, Mumbai, India, our Junior National players will arrived by 9W 256 N on 17th September 2014 at the BIA. At the conclusion of the tournament our players achievements are as follows:
-Cadet Girls team – 9th place
-Junior Girls team – 10th place
-Cadet boys team – 11th place
