Top French shipper sets up BPO in Sri Lanka
View(s):The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) has signed an agreement with CMA-CGM Shared Service Centre Lanka (Pvt) Ltd to set up a business processing outsource centre to provide services to the export market. The agreement was signed by Dr. Lakshman Jayaweera, BOI Chairman and C. S. Ananda, Director CMA-CGM Shared Services. The investment worth US$2.4 million will generate 750 employment opportunities in the first year and possibilities to grow up total capacity of 2000 staff. The project will also bring state- of-the-art IT system to the new centre in Colombo. The company has already employed 50 graduate and young CIMA/CA part qualified staff who are currently undergoing training, according to a BOI media release.
This facility will be fully functional by the end of 2014. The ownership of the company is 90 per cent for CMA-CGM agencies worldwide and 10 per cent Hayleys Advantis Ltd.
CMA-CGM is world 3rd largest container shipping company and number one company in France. It is headquartered in Marseille, France and operates 650 offices and agencies in more than 150 countries. The company also has regular services on over 170 shipping lines.
