Rev Sr. Mary Elizabeth A.C., alma mater to St. Cecilia’s Girl’s College, Batticaloa

After serving for 25 Silver years at the School, Rev Sr. Mary Elizabeth retired as Principal of St. Cecilia’s Girls’ College (National School), Batticaloa.
A grand Felicitation and Farewell Celebration in her honour has been organised for October 2.
Rev Sr. Elizabeth’s noteworthy work brought about the ultimate honour of receiving the Presidential Award for Best Principal in 2010. Her significant efforts did not stop with that perimeter. She kept on pushing the further mile, winning the National Productivity Award for the school for two consecutive years in 2010 and 2011, and Best Environment Friendly School in 2012.
Under Rev Sr. Elizabeth dynamic leadership, the School secured the Highest Performance Score at the external evaluation held in 2011.
Her astute stewardship also had the School hosting many National and Provincial events. However, the most noteworthy of them all was when Rev Sr. Elizabeth opened St. Cecilia’s as a safe refuge for cyclone and tsunami victims for months.
Under the excellent guidance of Rev Sr. Elizabeth, students were able to emerge winners for their performances at Zonal, District, Provincial, National and even International competitions in a range of fields including English Day, Tamil Day, Science, Information & Technology, Environment, Social Science, Athletics and the Performing Arts.
In 2013, St. Cecilia’s undertook the most challenging event it ventured in a decade: The Educational Exhibition, appropriately named, ‘Edubition’. Many visitors, well-wishers and other school communities were eagerly welcomed at this 54-stall exhibition showcasing the students’ talents were innovative and enterprising and very much appreciated.
