Celebrate a ‘tropicalised’ Bavaria at Mount Lavinia Hotel Oktoberfest 2014

Oktoberfest, the biggest peoples fair to hit the shores of Mount Lavinia, is back for the year 2014 with a more ‘tropicalised’ feel, bringing a world of fun and excitement for the whole family. Spread through five whole days of nothing but fun and celebration, the venue will be the enchanting beachfront of Mount Lavinia Hotel (MLH), The Paradise Beach, a first for any Oktoberfest in Sri Lanka. Festivities for this joyful celebration will start on the 7th of October (excluding 8th) and will continue till the 12th, offering the best in music, food and beverages for fun-loving people.
The Beachfront of MLH will be decked out in countless stalls, delicious food, games and entertainment for the entire family and will hold all captive in its carnival atmosphere. A fiesta like no other, the mela will include mouth-watering food such as must-have Oktoberfest specialities and authentic German cuisine prepared exclusively by German Chef Andreas Pflugmacher, who has been specially flown in for the occasion. “Mount Lavinia Hotel is very excited to host this year’s Oktoberfest,” said Bazeer Cassim, Group General Manager of Mount Lavinia Hotel. “Further people will be able to experience the very best when it comes to German cuisine as Chef Andreas will take you on a one-of-a-kind culinary journey with his traditional Bavarian dishes.” MLH has also introduced the exclusive VIP Deck with reserved seating, hostess service and fine beverages so that you can sit back, relax and enjoy the festivities in style.
Bavarian hostesses and a traditional Bavarian band, the Bavarian Dirndlchaser will be flown in by SriLankan Airlines. With their unique style of entertainment, the band will provide a party atmosphere and impart the true spirit of the Oktoberfest. The Hostesses, dressed in traditional Oktoberfest costumes will also join in the festivities.Reflecting on the entertainment at the festival, Mr. Pradeep Durairaj, Brand & Promotions Manager of SriLankan Airlines said “We hope that the entertainers will experience Sri Lankan hospitality at its best and share their experience with their friends around the world.” Glory, one of the most popular bands in Sri Lanka, will also take the stage to add a variety and mix of musical styles.
The five day carnival will include traditional Oktoberfest games and carnival rides to add to the fun.
