Ramzi turns 40 in beauty culture
The Grand Ballroom of Galadari Hotel, Colombo was a sight to behold on Monday, September 29 as Ramzi Rahaman’s 40th anniversary in the
beauty culture arena was celebrated as ‘Hair Couture by Ramzi’- a glamorous night of extravagant hair fashions. Many distinguished guests were present at the event from film stars to other well known names in beauty culture. The chief guest was First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa with the Guest of Honour being Ramzi’s mother, Florine Rahaman. All proceeds of the show were given to the Manhandy School for the Exceptional Child.
The strikingly dramatic fashion show which was the highlight of the night was divided into three segments- past, present and future, all presented in impeccable white. The Past segment showed Ramzi’s earlier designs which distinguished his style from the very beginning and featured only female models. The Present featured young models, both male and female featuring the popular trends of the present. The Future segment was exhibited by masked and robotic models featuring neon coloured rod-straight hair.
There was also a mini segment of Fantasy which showed Ramzi’s talent in body art. This was followed by Ramzi doing a three minute elaborate hairdo on a model onstage in his typical style of almost choreographed movements. The locks obediently turned into a work of art and proved the prowess of a professional.
The event also marked Ramzi’s history and story being released in print named ‘RAMZI –The legend through time’. The first copy was presented to the First Lady and the second to his mother.
