Old Bens beat Badulla 2-0
View(s):Old Bens veterans entered semi finals of the over 40s Soccer masters tournament 2014- by beating the strong Badulla SC by 2 goals to 1 in their quarter-final match played over the last week- end at the Cooray Park Wellawatte. The two-time finalists Badulla team which included as many a 6 army soldiers had to bow down to gallant Old Bens at the end.
Old Bens went on the attack from the start and scored with in the first 15minutes through burly Eranga with an accurate kick. Badulla equalised off a corner kick by Saman. The scores were level 1-1 at lemons.
Resuming the Badulla team played an attacking game trying to penetrate the Old Bens defense. However midway Jude Perera (Small Jude) made no mistake when he kicked the ball into the top net from the center outside the penalty box to make it 2 -1 in favour of the Old Bens.
President of the Soccer Masters Association Desmond Joseph was the match official.Old Bens will now meet the Battaramulla Veterans SC in the first Semi-final to be worked off on October 12 at the Cooray Park
