Lankan comedy based on British play
The premier shows of ‘Saadaya Maarai Salli Hamari’, the newest stage satire directed by cinema, teledrama and theatre actor Dharmapriya Dias based on a British play goes on the boards at 6.45 p.m. on October 17 and 18 at Namel Malani Punchi Theatre, Borella.
“Saadaya maarai, salli hamarai,” – (While the cash flowed, the party was perfect!) is the Sinhala adaptation of British playwright Ray Cooney’s ‘Funny Money’.
A Sri Lankan couple (Mr and Mrs. Fernando) living in England for the past 30 years have undergone many hardships while helping family and friends.An unbelievable fortune unexpectedly falls on their lap. How much money affects and shapes lives of common folk is revealed through the drama ‘Saadaya Maray Salli Hamaray’.
The star studded cast includes Gihan Fernando, Jayani Senanayake, Giriraj Kaushalya, Rachini Anuradha Perera, Dayadewa Edirisinghe, Premjayantha Kapuge, Aloka Sampath and Anuradha Mallawaarachchi.
