BRDS celebrates Children’s Day, donates footwear, stationery for needy schoolchildren
View(s):The staff of B.R. De Silva (BRDS) & Co., in an employee driven initiative, made their contribution towards the recent celebration of Children’s Day
by donating footwear and stationery items to Mahamathya Maha Vidyalaya, Colombo 5.
In accordance with the national theme, “Protect Us with Love” set by the Child Development & Women’s Affairs Ministry, the Company staff visited the school and distributed stationery items and school shoes among the 350 students.
Commenting on the project, Senior Partner Nihal De Silva stated that, “BRDS has, throughout its 60-year tenure, been conscious of its surroundings and have been aware of the needs of those in the vicinity. Not every child is born with a silver spoon, but education is the single equalising factor that can enable today’s children to achieve economic liberation, and we are privileged to lend them a helping hand.” Mr De Silva added that, several endeavours are made on a regular basis within the organization to equip students and trainees better their circumstances.
