SriLankan Airlines’ 15th Golf Classic has been the most diverse in country-wise participation registering almost 200 players from 18 countries, who battled it out on four days, with each playing on two consecutive days between September 25 and 28. The response from the Far Eastern countries was the most impressive with China bringing in the largest contingent.

The tournament ended on a high note for Sri Lanka’s Amrith de Soysa who was the overall winner in the Men’s category with the gross score of 74 and Qin Ami of Pakistan who topped the Ladies’ Category for the second consecutive time, with an overall score of 52.

In other prize categories for Nearest the Pin prize for Gents, Harsha Abeywickrema was the winner, whilst Manori Jayakody won the Ladies title. For the Longest Drive for Gents, the winner was Jessy Perera and Rama Reddy in the Ladies group.

For the past 15 years the SriLankan Golf Classic has attracted 100 players, particularly from the Asian region but now the tournament has a global appeal and participation, for its reputation for golf plus fun and leisure. The major attraction is the challenging course in Digana, located amidst beautiful tropical surroundings in the central hills of Sri Lanka. Golf is played between the transcendent Knuckles mountain ranges and the picturesque Victoria Reservoir. Golfers not only get a chance to put their skills to test against an international field of competitors, but also enjoy a memorable vacation.
