A driver in his car is seen talking on the phone while stopped on a pedestrian crossing and in a separate case a driver was caught stopping his luxury car, also on a crosswalk, to drop off a passenger.
In addition to this, drivers seem oblivious to traffic signs. Two three-wheelers were seen parked right in front a sign that said ‘no parking’.
“This situation is extremely problematic for pedestrians. Vehicle drivers should be considerate about everyone on the road. We can’t even use a pedestrian crossing without fearing that we will be knocked down by a vehicle,” said 48-year-old Suminda Jayaweera, a father of three from Dehiwala.
