Mr. Fernando is a former Chairman, United Motors, former Director/CEO of National Development Bank and one-time Secretary to the Ministry of Industries and Constitutional Affairs.

Veteran banker Ranjit Fernando was recently honoured at the 26th anniversary convention of the Association of Professional Bankers (APB), Sri Lanka for his services to the industry.
