‘Innovative ICT Classrooms’ worth Rs 50 m from South Korea
View(s):South Korea has donated Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) classrooms worth Rs 50 million to Sri Lanka’s students.
The Education Ministry says that this is one among many other projects that will develop between the two countries.
Pilot project of the “Innovative ICT Classroom” kick-started at the Mahinda Rajapaksa College in Pitipana, Homagama, this Tuesday. South Korean Education Ministry and Telecom Company Officials were the Chief Guests.
ICT classes are designed in unique ways to enable students perceive education easily and productively. These classrooms are known to create a platform for teachers to use images in teaching and improve the retentive memory of children, and make lessons more enjoyable, which in turn can improve student concentration and also enable teachers with easy methods to tackle complex subject areas.
“However, ICT classrooms are expensive and require qualified teachers using the latest technologies. Recognizing this setback, Korean trainees from the South Korean Education Ministry, commenced a five-day special training programme for teachers at Mahinda Rajapaksa College, Pitipana on Thursday (23),” the Education Ministry said.
During the launch of the “Innovative ICT Classroom” Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena said that, students from other State-run schools will also be given the opportunity to have classes in Pitipana.
