Kaushal’s four put West Indies ‘A’ on back foot
Right arm spinner Tharindu Kaushal’s four wicket haul saw the West Indies ‘A’ fall back after being given a sound start by openers Kraigg Brathwaite and Assad Fudadin in the pre-lunch session’s play on day one in their 3rd unofficial Test match against Sri Lanka A played at De Zoysa Stadium in Moratuwa.
West Indies A looked threatening after skipper Carlos Brathwaite won the toss and elected to take first lease of the wicket as Brathwaite and Fudadin had things their own way before being separated by Kaushal having added a valuable 137 who took the wicket of Brathwaite who made a 75 which included seven boundaries.
From there on Fudadin was forced to watch losing his partners at the other end with Kaushal dismissing Jermaine Blackwood and Jonathan Carter cheaply and then right arm pacie Kasun Madusanka sending back Andre Fletcher back to the pavilion before he opened his account as West Indies ‘A’ from a strong position of 137 for 1 collapsed to a score of 169 for 4.
Kaushal dealt another blow nine runs later with the wicket of Sunil Ambris before Fudadin and Chadwick Walton denied further success for West Indies A to go into the tea break on 201 for 5.
Sri Lanka A lead the three match series having won the first unofficial Test match by ten wickets played at the Sooriyawewa Stadium while the second match was washed out at Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara.
