Celebrating its 25th anniversary the Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan will be launching its fundraising initiative for 2014/2015 with their much anticipated annual sing-a-long Many Voices – One Vision. Organised and conducted by its member and well-known musician Rukshan Perera, this interactive concert show will take place on November 5, from 8 p.m. onwards at the Galadari Hotel, Colombo and will be supported by popular artistes Sohan and The Experiments.

The Rotary Club of Metropolitan’s fundraising events are reliant on the generosity and assistance of many local businesses and well wishers. The monies collected are used to support the many community service projects organised by the club. This year, they will be launching a flagship initiative called ‘Lama Piyasa – Ragama Rehabilitation Hospital Project’, which involves the construction and administration of a rehabilitation ward for juvenile victims of abuse and neglect.

Commenting on the event Kumar Mirchandani, President, Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan said, “Our aim is to assist and support the project by way of obtaining donations and sponsorship to fund medical equipment such as a Colposcope and other essential items like furniture, air-conditioners and computers for the Lama Piyasa – Ragama Rehabilitation Hospital Project. A large part of our funding requirement is for the Colposcope which is an essential medical instrument that will assist in providing video and imaging evidence of physical abuse, this in turn means that the traumatised children will not have to attend court and face the additional embarrassment, heartache and trauma of giving evidence in person.”

Tickets for the show are priced at Rs. 1,500 and can be bought at Fashion Optics, No 20, Flower Road, Colombo 7. For further information call 011 2573 444.
