Private security industry holds first ever CEO forum

as such the CEO’s of these organisations bear a vital role of accountability and responsibility in reaching the country’s development goals,” said President SLASSPA (Sri Lanka Security Service Providers Association) Major Tissa Aluwihare.
To this end, the first ever CEO forum under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development (Civil Security) was held on October 21 at the Hilton Residencies. The forum was attended by over 200 Security companies. The Chief Guest was Additional Secretary, (Civil Security) Ministry of Defence and Urban Development and Competent Authority on Private Security Agencies Mrs. Damayanthi Jayaratne.
‘Uplifting the image of the Industry through creating synergy amongst the stake holders’ was the theme of the day. The opening address was delivered by SLASSPA President Major Tissa Aluwihare who emphasised that all stakeholders should forge together to uplift the image of the industry as a whole. “Companies should strive to conform to ethical norms by paying the guards the minimum wage or above, and meeting their statutory dues such as EPF, ETF, etc,” he said.
The chief guest in her keynote address said the industry itself must move forward and uplift itself to a high level of professionalism in pace with the economic progress in the country.
