Talented Bollywood playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan will entertain local fans when she performs in Colombo on November 22 at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC).

Widely regarded as the most sought after Bollywood playback singer today, Sunidhi has lent her voice to a number of hit songs performed on the big screen by Bollywood’s current crop of leading ladies such as Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Jacqueline Fernandez and fan favourites Aishwarya Rai, Rekha, Madhuri Dixit, Kajol, Sridevi, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji.

Perhaps most famous for a number of hit songs featured on the soundtrack of the “Dhoom” trilogy of box office hits, with “Dhoom Machale” undoubtedly being one of the most popular, Sunidhi has also recorded songs for other high grossing Bollywood films, such as “Murder 2” (“Aa Zara”), “The Dirty Picture” (“IshqSufiyana”), “Tees Maar Khan” (“Sheila Ki Jawani”) and “Guzaarish” (“Gun GunGuna” and “Udi”), just to name a few. She has also collected numerous awards including the 2010 Big Star Entertainment Award for Singer of The Decade, the 2011 Chevrolet Global Indian Music Award (GIMA) for Best Live Performer, as well as the Filmfare and the Global Indian Film awards for Best Playback Singer in 2011. Most recently, she received the 2014 Dadasaheb Phalke award for Best Playback Singer.

Sunidhi’s high-watt energy and charisma will be backed by her original band who took London’s Royal Albert Hall by storm last year and supported by a troupe of Bollywood style dancers from Sri Lanka, guaranteeing top class live entertainment .

The singer’s star has been steadily rising. Sunidhi has been featured at high-profile events such the opening ceremony of the 2006 Asian Games in Doha. In 2011, Sunidhi also released a pop single in collaboration with Enrique Iglesias, a Hindi version of his song “Heartbeat”. Her first Electronic Dance Music single, “Ab Laut Aa” was with Sanjoy Deb.

Sunidhi has served as a recurring judge on the immensely popular Indian Idol, alongside Anu Malik and Salim Merchant, an honour she most recently shared with Bollywood playback singing legend Asha Bhosale, on the sixth edition of this programme.
