Lyceum student wins Junior Speaker Contest 2014
View(s):Dhami Fonseka of Lyceum International School, Panadura was adjudged the winner of the Champion Junior Speaker Contest 2014 with Thariq Ahamed of Lyceum Nugegoda in second place and Shana Nandakumar of Ladies’ College, Colombo placed third.
The Junior Speaker of the Year contest was organised for the 10th consecutive year for children between the ages of 12 and 18 by the Colombo Toastmasters Club for the “The Colombo Toastmasters Club Challenge Trophy”.
The contest gives an opportunity for children to display their oral communication skills. Over 500 applications were received from all schools around the country and 54 participants were selected for the semi-final contest. The grand finale of the contest was held on the Saturday, October 25 at the HNB Auditorium.
