East and west combine for a worthy cause
View(s):‘Mystique’– an evening of fashion, song and dance presented by the Lion Ladies of Lions Clubs International District 306A1 in connection with
the three-year centennial celebrations of the International Association, will be held on Sunday, November 30, at the Galadari Hotel at 6 p.m.
This fundraiser is for the launch of ‘Sinha Kantha Abhimani’, a women’s empowerment programme as well as for other service programmes.
The fashion show choreographed by Geraldine Bandaranaike will include an eastern segment of sarees and lehengas by Sona Mandhir and a western segment of outfits by five designers.
The western segment will comprise the ‘Textured Denim Collection’ a first of its kind inspired by water by Yasisurie Kiribandara, award winner at the 2014 Colombo Fashion Week; ‘Resort Wear’ by Thilina, winner of the Best Relevance to the Theme Award at LIFT Fashion Awards 2013 and Best Sports Wear in Sri Lanka’s Up and Coming Fashion Designer 2014; ‘Simplicity – a collection of party wear in pastel colours’ by Niroli Daniel; ‘All Blacks’, mainly cocktail dresses by Dhammika Amarasekera; and ‘Red Carpet Collection’ of elegant bridal and evening wear by Ruchira Karunaratne.
Compered by Faizal Bongso, the evening will also have performances by the Channa- Upuli Dance Troupe and artistes Corrine Almeida, Dushyanth Weeraman, Derana Dream Star M.G. Dhanushka and Sahani & Nashali; and a skit by comedian Wilson Guneratne of Charitha Atak fame.
