Army vs CH game bound to be a thriller today
Army who pulled off a sensational win against the much fancied Kandy team last week will take on CH & FC who also beat the Airmen in their only encounter so far in the first round encounter in the Dialog Sponsored ‘A’ Division club league encounter at the Royal College Sports Complex grounds in Colombo today.
Aruna Rankothge is listed to handle the game, which commences at 4 pm.
Army came strong in the second half of their game against Kandy when with the inclusion of Fijian power horse Pio Tuwai and Tongan Kilifi Latu. They upset the apple cart to knock their opponents off the ground sending them into a state of shock. However today’s game will be a different battle, as the CH side unlike in the recent past have regrouped and have entered the fray with some top local players in their side and further infused with foreign muscle.
The Soldiers took the entire first game and also the first half of their second game to finally get their combinations right and from that win against Kandy they are certainly boosted to provide that magical display once again this evening. Prince Chamara their reliable full back not only surged ahead joining the line on many occasions with his bursts of speed but also his conversions from the touchlines were simply breath taking. Another player who has gone on to prove his mettle is winger Kavindu Perera who not only scored the match winning try last week, but also scored two more tries in their opening game against CR.
CH who were rattled in their first outing lastweek against the Airmen, initially for the first half hour, got their act together and not only won, but also secured a bonus point in the last move of the day when they planted their fourth try.
Some of the local lads who can be of great strength to the Maitland Crescent side this evening are former Kingswoodian Rajitha Sansoni, former Isipathana winger Uditha Prematilleke, Gayan Ratnage, Ganindu Lakshan and Miyuru Hewawasam. Players such as the likes of Dilip Selvam, Zulker Hamid and former Royal College captain Rimzie Jamaldeen means CH would be strong especially with foreign Kiwi signees Bryan Hudson and Doug Edwards.
Spectators heading down to the grounds this evening are in for another block buster game, as from the inception of the tournament the predicted ‘Dark Horse’ Army, would not make life easy for CH on the park this evening.
