Sri Lanka pugilists sweep the boards
Sri Lanka pugilists swept the board at the Dual Boxing Meet against the visiting Singapore boxers’ conducted by the Amateur Boxing Association of Sri Lanka which was held at the Slimline boxing ring in Pannala.

The Sri Lanka team fielded eight boxers four each in both the categories and came out victorious in three bouts each in the men’s and women’s categories.
Erandi de Silva, Nadeesha Erandi and Sajeewani Cooray were three boxers’ to win their bouts in the women’s category while Singapore’s solitary winner was Nur Shiren Rishyani.
Those successful in the men’s for Sri Lanka were Gayan Jayaweera, Udaya Kumara and Ranga Nuwan Wettasinghe with Tay Jia Wei being the sole winner for Singapore.
Prior to this dual boxing meet the two countries were featured in a Tri Nation boxing meet along with Seychelles where the Sri Lankan pugilists came out on top by winning 14 of the 18 bouts that were worked off.

The two boxing meets were held with the aim of giving the boxers’ from the three countries the much needed international exposure. The Singapore boxers underwent training with the Sri Lankan boxers at the Slimline Boxing Complex before they participated at the Dual Boxing Meet.
Results:
Women: Light Flyweight 48kg – Erandi de Silva (Sri Lanka) beat Leona Hui Xin Yee (Singapore). Flyweight 51kg – Nadeesha Erandi (Sri Lanka) beat Angeline Deventhiran (Singapore). Bantamweight 54kg – Sajeewani Cooray (Sri Lanka) beat Efasha Kamarudin (Singapore). Bantamweight 54kg – Nur Shiren Rishyani (Singapore) beat D.M. Herath (Sri Lanka).
Men: Bantamweight 56kg – Gayan Jayaweera (Sri Lanka) beat Muhammad Ridhwan (Singapore). Lightweight 60kg – Light Welterweight Udaya Kumara (Sri Lanka) beat Muhammad Solihin (Singapore). 64kg – Ranga Nuwan Wettasinghe (Sri Lanka) beat Leong Jun Hao (Singapore). Welterweight 69kg – – Tay Jia Wei (Singapore) beat Neil Hettiarachchi (Sri Lanka).
