A character from a movie

My favourite character is Elsa. She was in the film ‘Frozen’. She is a cartoon character. She has a nice voice and she’s beautiful and she has the power of ice. Her sister is Anna and she also has a nice voice.
My favourite song is sung by Elsa.

This film is about love and honesty. There are five main characters. They are Elsa, Anna, Hans, Christopher and Olaf. The funniest character is Olaf because he is a snowman. Anna is also beautiful. Elsa is the main character.
I like Elsa’s songs. She couldn’t control her power but now she can. I imagine how I would be if I had a power.
The film is interesting and amazing. However it is a long story. It is the best in the world. I like to see it again and again. The problem is that we can’t watch it every day because there are other films too. This film is liked by everyone.
I like this character very much.

An unforgettable trip

I went to Singapore on April 16. That day was my sister’s birthday and she was really happy. We stayed in a hotel there. We went to Universal Studios, Singapore Flyer and the River Safari. At Universal Studios there were many rides. My favourite rides were Transformers, Canopy Flyer and Boat Ride.
The next day we went to River Safari. This is a place where animals are kept. We saw many animals like pandas, monkeys, red monkeys and many more. We saw two pandas and their names were Kai-Kai and Jia-Jia. There were several fish tanks and we saw many types of fish.
Then we went to the Singapore Flyer. It is a ride where we can view the whole country. The currency they use is dollars. The week passed by and we had to come back home.
I enjoyed it a lot and I hope I could go again.

The butterfly

Once I saw a little butterfly
Up! Up! Up! In the sky
It was very pretty and colourful
It drank honey from the flowers and was full.

I caught it quick even though it flew
It was very cute and had antennas too
I asked my mum whether to keep it with me
This is what she said, you see

Butterflies are lovely and they like to be free
They need their mum like you and me
I understood and let it go
My mum was happy, even you I know

An interesting person I met

My best friend and I are not particularly bright in our studies.
We strongly believed that playing was everything and education was no fun. But this idea was shattered when
I met Ruthrash’s brother.
Ruthrash’s brother is a Science student doing his second year in an university in the United States. He had come down for his summer vacation last June. I was not very excited to see him at first because like other older brothers, I expected him to be strict with us. I was in for a big surprise because he was totally fun to be with. He had many good qualities such as honesty, straightforwardness and most importantly creative senses. His creativity attracted me the most. He uses many things which he has made himself like a handmade lampshade, small fan, transistor etc. I was impressed when I went into his room, he gave me a remote controlled flying Batman which he had made himself, as a parting gift.
He had taught me that education is also fun. He is not only a genius, but also an interesting person I have met.

My first day in Grade Four

On September 1, I passed to Grade 4B in Lyceum Int. School. The location of my class is on the second floor. When I went to my new class, I saw beautiful bulbs around the class. I saw a notice board, a 5S board, a white board and markers. The teachers greeted us with a warm greeting. We also greeted them happily.
I met new friends. We played together. Then we got our interval. I stayed in my class and got the names of my teachers. My class teacher is Ms. Padmini and the assistant teacher is Ms. Gaya.
The teachers love children.
They gave us toffees.
After the interval we had Cub Scouts for boys and Little Friends for girls. After that we had PT. we enjoyed a lot. Next we did Maths. We practiced addition. At 10 o’clock our class stopped. The bell rang. We packed our bags and lined up. And Van Uncle came and I went home.
I told my mother what we did at school. I promised my mother that I will do my work more successfully than last year.

A colourful morning
I woke up at 5.30 a.m., to make a difference for the life pattern. It was still dark outside and full of mist.
The cows were shouting here and there as well as the night insects who were also making noises in the jungle.
I went downstairs and opened the front door. It was freezing cold outside and I was almost shivering. I blew air from my mouth to see the smoke going out of my mouth. I opened the front gate and let my dog go out to do some exercises. Small droplets of water were shining better than gems in the grass. Sunlight was peeping from the East but the West was still dark.
There are so many people willing to see the sun on the next day. Sometimes it may be a dream for them. I am happy to see the sun again. It was a great scenario for me.

Philately is my hobby
A hobby is the activity that we do in our leisure time. Some hobbies are reading, drawing, listening to music and collecting old things. My hobby is
different from those hobbies. It is philately.
Philately means
collecting stamps. I started this hobby when I was eight years old. Now I have about three-hundred and fifty stamps. I put them neatly in an album. I have Sri Lankan stamps as well as foreign stamps. My stamps are in various shapes like squares, rectangles and triangles. I get stamps from letters and postcards. My parents have given me some stamps they collected in their young age.
Through this hobby I can develop my knowledge, can have a relaxed mind and it brings me joy.

My sister
My sister’s name is Lisara. She likes to stay by my side at all times. Her best friends are Yanindri and Eisha. When she gets into trouble I feel pity for her. She likes to prepare food for others and she likes to draw pictures.
She never hits me, and never fights with me. She is very nice to me and others. I think she is the best sister in the whole world.

I am a kite
I am very beautiful and colourful. The wind helps me to move my body. On sunny days people take me to the beach, paddyfields and many other places. I like to fly in the sky because I can see many lands, waterfalls, beautiful mountains, beaches, houses and many other things.
I don’t like the storm but I like the breeze. Children like me very much. I am made of tissue. I am diamond shaped. Children take me with them when they go on trips. In the kite
season there are many friends of mine in the shops. People buy us and fly us in the sky. Some people like me but some people do not.
When they burn me I am sad and also angry. Children put me in to
the dark rooms and they go away but only if it is night. I enjoy the sky very much. Who am I ?
I am a beautiful kite!

Think positively
Life means a mixture of many emotions such as sorrow, happiness, excitement etc. But it is our duty to think positively always and act according to that. We will be able to meet thousands of problems in our life such as failure in exams, family problems,
missing somebody who is close to us etc.
On such occasions we should have strength to face them bravely.
“Yes I can do it, I will do it. I will pass the exam.” Such positive thoughts should inspire in the heart. Specially parents and teachers should turn children’s mind towards positive thoughts by encouraging them. So friends, let’s think positively and be encouraged to face problems bravely.

My favourite book
I have read many story books. Among them
‘Madol Duwa’ is the
most interesting book.
It was written by Martin Wickramasinghe. It was brought by my mother for my birthday. It is an
interesting book for children.
There are two main
characters in this story. They are Upali and Jinna. I like Upali’s character because he is courageous. The language of the book is very simple.
I went to see Madol Duwa when I was in Grade Four. It is a very beautiful island too. I would like to read it again and again. I request my friends to read books like these.
