Dewmith – promising young paddler
View(s):Dewmith Weerasena student of Grade 7, Lyceum International School Nugegoda has represented Sri Lanka in the 2014 International Table Tennis Federation World Hopes Week and Challenge held in Otocec, Slovenia where nearly 50 countries participated for this international training and tournament. He was selected among the first sixteen players in the tournament.

According to the ranking points published by the Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka Dewmith is the number one ranking player in under 12 category for the year 2014 having won all five ranking tournaments including Junior Nationals of the year 2014 and obtained 162 ranking points. Also he won the STAG Western Province Open Ranking Tournament-2014 in the Under 12 Category, in the Under 15 Category he was the Runner-Up and in the open event he played in the quarter-finals. Based on this performance he was named as a Promising Player of the tournament.
In the year 2013 Dewmith was ranked Sri Lanka’s number one player in under 12 category obtaining 102 points and also won the junior Nationals in the same age Category.
In the year 2012 he was the Sri Lanka ranked number one player in under 10 category with a total points of 147 and won the most valuable championship the Junior Nationals in the under 10 category.
In the year 2011 he obtained 80 points to be ranked number two player of Sri Lanka in the under 10 category and also was the Runner-Up in the Junior Nationals in under 10 category.
