Hashan slams 74, Lahiru grabs five
A fine knock of 74 with eight boundaries and two sixes by Hashan Rajapakse was the highlight of the first day’s play in the Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter between St. Thomas’ Kotte and St Mary’s Matugama played at Kotte.
The match got off to a late start at 1.30 p.m. due to the wet outfield with St. Thomas’ taking first lease of the wicket despite Hashan’s knock being restricted by right arm spinner Lahiru Dilshan who ended with impressive figures of 5 for 20 to a score of 125.
St. Mary’s in their turn facing 16 overs ended the day on 21 for 1. The match will be continued today.
Half tons by Ravindu Lakshan and Rajitha Thomas helped Ananda Maithriya Balangoda record an easy first inning win over Bandarawela Central in the Under 19 match concluded at Balangoda yesterday.
