Invincible Suburbs II has a field day
Suburbs II clinched the overall championship of Seylan Bank Sports Fiesta 2014, held at the NCC ground in Colombo recently, where over 1500 staff members of Seylan Bank representing 12 regions took part. Uva/Sabaragamuwa emerged runners-up while Head Office became third best out of 12 teams.
Other teams that took part were West, North West, Suburbs I, Metropolitan, Central, North Central, East, North and South. The cricket championship was clinched by Head Office ‘A’ while Head Office went on to win the Mixed Netball title. Uva/Sabaragamuwa won the tug-o-war event.
In athletic events, Uva/Sabaragamuwa claimed a double by winning the Men’s 100metres and 100metres relay events while Suburbs II emerged runners up in both events respectively. The fitness contest was won by South while East claimed the prizes for the best cheering squad and best decorated tent.
Sri Lanka cricketer Nuwan Kulasekara graced the opening ceremony as the chief guest while the General Manager of Seylan Bank, Kapila Ariyaratne was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and awards night. This annual event was organised by the Sports Club of Seylan Bank.
