Kandy should have it easy today
View(s):Table leaders Kandy should further enhance their status quo at the top when they encounter the winless Hambantota Sharks at Beliatta in their first round fixture of the current Dialog sponsored ‘A’ Division Inter-Club game at Beliatta commencing at 4.00pm this evening.
Kandy who were rattled in the second half of their game to lose to Army earlier on have regrouped beautifully and dusted off that loss to register two remarkable back to back victories over Havelocks and Navy last weekend. Their performances in those two games demonstrated glimpses of what their true potential and capabilities are and to end up being a contender for the ultimate prize.
Today’s game is predicted to be a one sided affair with Kandy hoping to register a bonus point by scoring four or more tries in the game as they seem to have got their combinations right with regular scrum half Roshan Weeraratne teaming up with Fazil Marija. Roshan’s brother Gayan has been a solid force as center teaming up with Kenyan Oscar Ouma with Anuruddha Wilvara and Nigel Ratwatte occupying a winger’s position and full backs spot respectively, completing a line that is full of speed and capable of wrong footing their opposition today.
Janik Jayasuriya will certainly have his plate full this evening and his team mates will have to put their hands up and pledge their support and commitment to their skipper if they are to at least minimize the eventual score line leave alone thinking of a win. Their Sri Lankan national players from the Fiji islands Emori and Dunn will also have to up the tempo and also find ways to combat Kandy’s South African flanker Chris Cloete who virtually single handedly demolished the mighty Navy side last week.
