CH should have it easy
View(s):CH & FC take on Hambantota Sharks in their first round encounter and in all probability should net not only the Sharks but also haul in a handsome win in their first round Dialog sponsored ‘A’ Division inter club league tournament game scheduled for kick off at 4pm this evening at the Race Course Rugby Grounds this evening.
CH who came into this tournament with all guns blazing and with the hope of shocking the bigger known clubs started off with a bang in their first game against the Airmen but withered away thereafter to lose a few games in a row. This game is predicted for them to break that losing jinx and continue in their hope of registering more wins as they go along.
Rimzi Jamaldeen has been their place kicker who has continuously kept the score board moving for his team. However the CH players are currently spewing with no grounds to call their own especially for their home games as with the premier club cricket season commencing their grounds have been entrusted to their club cricketers leaving them with no place to even practice. A notable feature due to this issue was when Jamaldeen fluffed a few simple kicks in their game against Navy last week due to not having the opportunity to practice and improve on this skill of place kicking.
Perhaps the higher officials of the club at Maitland Crescent would have to do something quick as at 48 hours prior to the game, a venue as being the hosts for this game was still to be finalized. At this rate CH will end up as a thoroughbred who sadly will be tagged as a horse who ‘also ran’ the race.
The Sharks have had their share of worries too and have left their skipper Janik Jayasuriya a dejected man after their four straight losses thus far. Their foreigners especially Emori, Dunne and Waqa will have to ‘up the tempo’ at least in this game against CH who has proved to be a weaker side in the league and get their local players to rally around them if they are even to create an impact today leaving aside a win. – MDF
