Navy should sink Airmen at Ratmalana
Navy should not have any problems at all and their performance today would easily keep rattling the scoreboard when they take on the Airmen at their home grounds at Ratmalana in their first round encounter of the Dialog sponsored ‘A’ Division inter club rugby league encounter with kick off scheduled for 4 pm this evening.
Navy’s skipper Yoshitha Rajapaksa who scored a bagful of tries at the start of the season has probably one the best all round sides this season. Even though they lost to Kandy two weeks ago they would make every effort to regain their one number slot. Displacing the ‘Hill Capital’ side would be their immediate goal, and would hope that the Police pull off another killer act like they did against CR last week when they take on Kandy in Nittawela today.
Navy in all probability will go flat out to win and that too win handsomely to register that crucial bonus point for scoring four or more tries, one that they narrowly missed out on when they took on CH last weekend.
Some of Navy’s star local players to watch out for today would be Sharo Fernando, Vishwamithra Jayasinghe, Reza Mubarak, Srinath Sooriyabandara, Saliya Handapangoda, Danushka Perera and Soyura Anthony. They can certainly build upon the Fijian Magic they possess in Setefano Cakau, Lathumala and Viupaula.
The Airmen on their day can put up a dazzling performance as they focus on playing as one unit sans any individual brilliant stars. They proved their mettle in the first half of their encounter against CH when they led up until the 30th minute mark to finally wither away and lose. Gayantha Iddamalgoda and Chathura Gomes their reliable place kicker are two talented players in the Airmen camp who should put up a stellar performance.
