SLCS, CPAFFC sign MoU to enhance Sino-Lanka cultural ties

A Memorandum of Understanding was (MoU) signed between the Sri Lanka-China Society (SLCS) and the Chinese Peoples Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) to promote and expand cooperation in Education, Culture, Socio-Economics, Tourism and other fields of interest.

The cultural partnership between Sri Lanka and China, was marked by a series of events held last week at the J.D.A. Perera Art Gallery of the Faculty of Visual Arts of the University of Visual & Performing Arts.

It was sponsored by the SLCS in collaboration with the CPAFFC, National Museum of Chinese Writings and Anyang Municipal Government of Henan, China.

The visitors were an 18-member delegation comprising of nine high-ranking CPAFFC officials and nine Chinese calligraphers.
The main event was the Two-day exhibition of Chinese characters. The Chief Guest for the opening ceremony, China’s Deputy Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Ren Faqiang, said that the partnership between SLCS and CPAFFC would no doubt contribute to revitalise the age old cultural relations between the two countries.

The seminar on “Cultural relations between Sri Lanka and China-an impact of the famous Silk Route,” took place thereafter. The two main presentations made at the seminar were by former Sri Lanka Ambassador to China, Nihal Rodrigo and the Director General of the Cultural Exchange Dept. of CPAFFC, Ma Xiaoming, were well received.
