Four Bloomfield officials off to Pakistan
View(s):Eaglets Cricket Club in Bahawalpur, Pakistan has invited four cricketing stalwarts of Bloomfield Athletics and Sports Club for a week-long programme where both sides are expected to exchange their expertise and ideas in cricket. The Pakistan club, better known as Bahawalpur Eaglets in their domestic cricket circuit, has invited Bloomfield officials Hirantha Perera, Jayantha Seneviratne, Rohan de Alwis and Ashroff Ghany for the programme.
In an official letter of invitation, Ameen Abbasi, the president of Eaglets CC states that his club expects to ‘share the ideas and experiences’ with their Sri Lankan counterparts.
“Subjects such as infrastructure, facilities, climatic conditions and preparation of wickets could be seen and discussed during the week. In addition you could also gain first hand information by visiting our various grounds, coaching camps of youngsters, colts and upcoming cricketers, for tapping of talent on the grass-root level in Pakistan. Our coaches and trainers would very much like to learn from you the activities of training and coaching methods in Sri Lanka as well,” Abbasi has mentioned in his letter.
The tour was arranged after the initiative of the Eaglets CC chairman, Aurangzeb Khan who visited Sri Lanka last April to conduct a workshop for local umpires. Khan an internationally acclaimed umpiring trainer, cricket columnist, an ACUS (England) qualified umpire was requested by Bloomfield official Ghani to share conduct a workshop while he was in Sri Lanka on a private visit. The four Bloomfield officials left Sri Lanka yesterday and will return on December 21.
