Woeful CH should get a hefty fine by the Cops today
Underdogs CH and FC who entered the tournament with hopes aplenty but who have so far failed miserably in their quest to even create an impact, will be under further pressure today when they play Police in their first round game of the current Dialog sponsored ‘A’ Division inter-club tournament at Race Course this evening.
The match was originally scheduled to be worked off at Police Park.
CH and FC have been the most unfortunate team in the fray in that they have no home venue which has now been reserved for their cricket team as the two seasons clash.
They don’t have even a proper ground to practice on which has been their main drawback this season.
The Maitland Crescent side will need to put all their shortcomings behind and play to regain much lost pride. which could send a message to the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) that promised to meet their ground fees for being forced to shift their home games venue due to the tournament being brought forward unlike other years.
CH possess a good set of forwards capable of matching any team in the fray which means they have the potential to match and even beat Police on paper. However Police who have excelled so far especially by slinging the ball wide and displaying some brilliant runs by their line would probably look to their star Fijian Inter 7’s player Apsai Naqalive to deliver the goods once again. Police’s backline which can be very deadly on the move will however be the main worry for CH this evening.
The ‘Cops’ no doubt is the favourite team for today’s game, but they cannot afford to relax and take it easy. They will need to play a controlled game and ensure they don’t concede too many penalties as CH have one of the best place-kickers in Rimzie Jamaldeen who will kick his side to victory on any given day, if given the slightest whiff.
