‘Mahi Roo’ an exhibition of wildlife and nature photographs organised by the Doctors’ Aesthetic Society of the Mahiyangana Hospital will be held on December 18 and 19 at the hospital.

“This is not a competition, it is to enhance the aesthetic eye of the hospital staff. There are many who take photographs but they rarely get a chance to exhibit their work, especially in a place like Mahiyangana,” said Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Arjuna Ellepola, while Conusltant Surgeon Dr. Ajith Arthanayake said the exhibition comprising about 150 photographs will be open to the public of Mahiyangana and will be a new experience to them.
The Organising Committee pointed out that unlike other events, this has no sponsors but the efforts of the Doctors’ Aesthetic Society has borne fruit. The five best photographs will be selected by a Special Panel and tokens of appreciation present to the photographers.

The Mahiyangana Hospital is an ‘A’ grade base hospital which serves the public of Uva and Central Province. Although it is short-staffed, according to Medical Superintendent Dr. A.M.S. Bandara, those working here seem to enjoy the Mahiyangana experience.
