Rotary’s coveted Polio Eradication Champion Award presented to Tony Abbott

President-Elect of Rotary International, Sri Lankan K.R. Ravindran was in Canberra last week to present Rotary’s coveted Polio Eradication Champion Award to the Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, for his strong support to the Rotary Polio eradication programme. The Prime Minister, a huge advocate for Rotary and its worldwide Polio eradication programme had announced a grant of A$ 100 Million towards the programme at the Rotary convention in Sydney earlier this year.

Mr. Ravindran headed the Polio eradication programme in Sri Lanka, now declared a Polio free country. He will assume duties as President of Rotary International at the Sao Paulo convention in June 2015.
