The 42nd Annual General Meeting of the Western Province Badminton Association, one of the oldest badminton associations in Sri Lanka, was held on the December 14 at the Blue Feathers Sports Club Hall. One of the Association’s founding members and its current President, L.R.

Ariyananda, a veteran badminton player retired on that day, while Prof Ranjith de Silva of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology, was elected uncontested as the new president. The new office bearers are as follows.

President: Prof Ranjith de Silva (SLIIT)

Secretary: Asanka Peiris (Shuttle Power Badminton Club)
Treasurer: Ruwan Fernando (Old Cambrians’ Badminton Club)
Vice Presidents: Chinthaka Fernando (Moratuwa YMCA), A.S. Jayasinghe (Otter’s Aquat ic Club), Rajpal Salgado (Panadura Recreation Sports Club)
Assistant Secretary: Chaturi Fer nando (Sons of Victoria Sports Club)
