One-stop-ePortal for music launched
A one-stop-ePortal for music, Sangeethaya.lk, was launched on December 11, a collective venture by Dr. Shiromi Arunatileka, Dr. Dinesh Arunatileka and Sanjeewa Liyanage.
The pilot website of Sangeethaya.lk was introduced on October 1 and had over 14,000 likes by the end of two months.
Combining ICT with the music industry, this trio wishes to connect music service providers with those who seek their services.
The website provides an opportunity for small and medium scale enterprises (SME), newcomers to the music field and corporates to market their products at a low cost while being a medium for society to connect with these service providers.
After registering, a company or an individual who wishes to advertise on the website should make a small online payment to do so. Each music service provider can own an updatable profile page. The website also contains an online forum which allows the users to connect and comment. For this, an account should be created.
“We realised that there isn’t an all-in-one platform in Sri Lanka where you can find people in the music industry like composers, instrument sellers and record studio owners. That is why we decided to create one website for all music related requirements,” said CEO Dr. Shiromi.
The creators hope to attract players in the global music industry and change the website into an international cybermusic market. The categories of service providers found on Sangeethaya.lk include singers, music bands, lyric writers and event managers.
As the colourful brochure of the website (www.sangeethaya.lk) states it is “for all your music needs”.
