Karandeniya Central enters pre quarters

Karandeniya Central qualified to the pre-quarter finals of the Under 13 Division Two cricket tournament when they ended the first and second round matches with an unbeaten record. In the first round matches they overcame Kalutara MV ‘B’, Sri Sumangala Hikkaduwa, Madampa Central and Mahinda ‘B’.
The completion of the first round saw Karandeniya Central securing the top spot in their group and then went on to record easy first inning wins in the second round matches over Sandalanka MV. Ranabima Royal, Mahanama ‘B’ Colombo and Ibbagamuwa Central.
Middle order right hand batsman Dhanesh Madusanka was their star who scored over 650 runs in eight innings that included three tons and three half tons while skipper Dimuth Sandaruwan accumulated over 550 runs inclusive of a ton and four half tons.
The pick of the bowlers was left arm spinner Ishan Pramodya who ended with a haul of 26 wickets. Karandeniya Central will meet St Joseph’s ‘B’ Colombo in the pre-quarter final.
