St. Sylvester’s BC, MAS Unichela steal the limelight
St. Sylvester’s BC and MAS Unichela BC stole the limelight when they came out on top at the ABA Men’s and Women’s Junior National Boxing
Action at ABA Men and Women Junior National Boxing.
Championship held at the held at the Royal College Boxing Ring in Reid Avenue.
St. Sylvester’s BC clinched the championship in style when all their six boxers — K.B.N.J. Perera, J.S. Dhananjaya, G.C.M. Wickramasinghe, H.M.H.S. Medawantha, K.G.M.L.B. Kapukotuwa and
A.A.M.B. Karunaratne — qualified to the finals from the ten bouts held for the day thus emerging victorious.
Two other schools in the Kandy district — Vidyartha and Trinity colleges — shared the wins of the other four bouts winning, two each.
The Women’s champions MAS Unichela BC won three bouts from the seven held with MAS Southern, MAS Casual Line, MAS Linea and Navy BC winning one each.
Meanwhile Vidyartha BC had the honour of producing the best boxer and best loser in the Men’s category in Y.M.D. Tilekeratne and W.A.I. Sanjaya respectively. Dinithi Jayana Perera of MAS Unichela and L.W. Kodippili of Narandeniya Central were adjudged the best boxer and loser respectively in the Women’s category.
