Rajapaksa offers computers to Sri Lanka’s astrologers
View(s):Sri Lanka’s astrologers are to receive financial assistance from the government to upgrade their ages-old profession using modern computer technology.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa a strong believer of astrology gave this assurance at meeting with a group of astrologers in Colombo on Tuesday, official sources said
A leading astrologer, who attended the meeting, said the President told them that he will direct the Treasury to provide necessary financial assistance to upgrade their profession with modern technology.
Several astrologers including the President’s astrologer Sumanadasa Abeygunawardena have predicted that Rajapaksa was going through a highly favourable period and will overcome all obstacles as his birth chart is very powerful.
They noted that several party leaders will cross over to the President’s side as the latter’s horoscope is very powerful with the Moon at 6th position with Jupiter. Venus is in the 7th position of Moon and Mercury is in the 3 position of Moon.
A beaming President told astrologers that their prediction was correct as the Leader of the Nava Sihala Urumaya Sarath Manamendra (Presidential candidate), pledged his support to him while the meeting was on, the astrologer said.
However, some astrologers noted the prediction was far from the reality as it was an isolated incident and Rajapaksa is heading towards an unexpected defeat and he will have to seek divine help for his survival. They said that the President is facing a bad period and he should engage in religious activities to overcome obstacles.
