Children movie for New Year
Janitha Marasinghe’s latest film ‘Mage Yalu Maalu’, a children’s film directed by Lal Priyadeva will be released in Regal Colombo, Lido Borella, Odeon Mt Lavinia and other CEL-Ridma circuit cinemas around the country soon. With the untimely death of parents, Sukiri becomes a destitute and goes to live with his grandmother who lives by selling vegetables at the fair. Branded as an unfortunate child, Sukiri is looked down on by everyone around him and no child is willing to play with him. As a result Sukiri becomes a lonely child and in place of friends gets close to nature. Trees, paddy fields and flowers become his friends and his most favourite place was nearby water stream.
However during the vacation, Chandev, a child of his age comes to his neighbour’s house and he starts to play with him. One day they go to play in the beach and Sukuri befriends a dolphin and the rest of ‘Mage Yalu Maalu’ revolves around their friendship and problems they face. The film stars Chandani Seneviratne, Chili Thivanka, Denuwana Senadhi, Sarath Chandrasiri, Piumi Botheju, D. B. Gangodatenna, Jeewan Handunneththi, Mahinda Isalagamage, Lithum Semika Marasinghe and Kavisha Dewmini Ketakumbura.
The children’s film had been shot in Sri Lanka and Thailand. Behind the screen Buddhika Mangala handled camera, Anura Bandara the editing, Tharaka Adhikari the make up, Priyantha Dasanayake art direction, technical direction Sudesh Wasantha Peiris and music direction by Edward Jayakody.
