Alzheimer’s Foundation holds public lecture on Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia
View(s):The Lanka Alzheimer’s Foundation (LAF) begins the new year with a public lecture on Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD) by Dr. Chanaka Wijeratne at LAF’s auditorium on Tuesday, January 6 at 2.30 p.m.
Sri Lankan-born Dr. Wijeratne who migrated to Sydney, Australia graduated in medicine from the University of New South Wales. He trained in psychiatry in Sydney and in old age psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital, London. He is currently Senior Consultant, Academic Department of Old Age Psychiatry, Prince of Wales Hospital; Consultant to the Health Program, Medical Council of NSW; and Conjoint Senior Lecturer, School of Psychiatry, UNSW.
He is a past Chair, Faculty of Psychiatry of Old Age, Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (NSW Branch). He was the lead author on NSW Ministry of Health’s Assessment and Management of People with Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia, a Handbook for NSW Health Clinicians.
