Lyceum Nugegoda Girls and Boys captured the coveted Under 15 ‘A’ Division titles at the recently concluded championship organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Basketball Association.

In a thrilling final hosted by HSC Blues Basketball Club at Hendry Pedris Courts, Lyceum Nugegoda Girls met their opponents Lyceum Wattala and unleashed their fast-paced, swashbuckling brand of play. The team continued to be one of the most competitive set of cagers at both the National Schools and Inter- International Schools circuit.

The coaching ingenuity of Niluk Dananjaya has brought the team’s standard to its peak. Featuring quick, creative guards that can both, score and pass with confidence contributed their dominance to the game. The Girls maintained their winning streak after winning the Under 15 Zonal Championship a week ago.

At the closely fought finals, Lyceum Wattala came back with the a strong defence but Lyceum Nugegoda managed to keep their adrenalin level intact to emerge as the ultimate champions with Sandalipuja Liyanage giving a captain’s performance winning the coveted title of the Most Valuable Player of the tournament and Sharanya Jayakody winning the Best Defensive Player award.

Aaliya Hafeez, Binadi Diddeniya and Yischelle Foenander contributed to the team’s success with brilliant playing final score 52-57.
The team was coached by Niluk Dananjaya and Teachers-in-charge were Ms. Vanessa Labrooy and Ms. Menaka Silva.
