Prabuddhi an excellent Tennis player
View(s):Promising Janashakthi-sponsored tennis player Prabuddhi Perera excelled at the recently held Asia Tennis Federation Development
Championship, conducted by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) in collaboration with the SLTA.
Representing in the Under-14 age category, Perera who was placed third in the first week, played extremely well in the second week, being placed first in the singles and doubles categories. She was also the Under-14 semi-finalist in the Junior National Tennis Championship conducted by the SLTA.
Prabuddhi has already been picked by SLTA to represent Sri Lanka National Under-14 team in the girl’s age group for all international events for year 2015.
Another budding young athlete, 10-year-old Anjalika Kurera also played extremely well this year to retain her No.1 ranking in the girl’s Under-10 age group. Kurera is Janashakthi’s youngest sponsored tennis player, and ended the year on a high note by being crowned the Under-10 Junior National Champion. This was the crowning achievement for the young player, who was consistently awarded the Under-10 Girl’s Championship in all the tennis tournaments conducted in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Tennis Association.
Chief Operating Officer, General Insurance Dayalinie Abeygunawardena identified the potential of these two budding tennis players from Negombo to add them to the rest of the Athletes sponsored by Janashakthi.
“Janashakthi is proud to be associated with these two promising players. It was a unanimous decision to give these tennis players a helping hand, and Janashakthi has been sponsoring them from January 2014. They have truly ended the year on a high note, and we see a bright future for them in the years to come,” Abeygunawardena said.
Both Prabuddhi and Anjalika are being trained by HIT Tennis Academy, Colombo. Janashakthi has been sponsoring deserving athletes over a period of six years since 2007.
