Rural girl Galle District’s Best Arts Student at AL 2014
View(s):K.J. Lakmali of Udugama MV in the Galle District, was rated Best Arts Student in the Galle District at the 2014 GCE Advanced Level. She was delighted, as she recounted travelling nearly 16 km to and from every day to attend her village school in Udugama, because she was determined to pass the exam. She has a sister and a younger brother attending school. She never expected to come first in the District, but did labour late into the nights, compiling short notes and attending tuition classes. All my teachers, the Principal and my parents helped me achieve this result. I also recall my grandparents who were with me on this journey. She intends to enter the Legal profession through her higher studies.
