SLASSCOM endorses President’s moves towards a stable Sri Lanka
View(s):SLASSCOM, the Sri Lanka IT and KPO-BPM industry chamber, has pledged its fullest support to the new government led by President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the newly appointed team of cabinet ministers.
SLASSCOM Chairman, Jayantha De Silva, in his message said that; “I would like to congratulate the President and Prime Minister on leading with stability and reform at the centre of their agenda. As we enter a period of change, we appreciate and welcome the 100 day programme which is a well-structured plan with defined goals. With good governance at the forefront, we expect extremely positive effects to our country, the economy, as well as our industry. SLASSCOM pledges its support to the new agenda and eagerly looks forward to its outcomes”.
In a media statement, he said, “SLASSCOM’s vision 2022 of reaching US$5 billion in revenue, creating 200,000 direct jobs and facilitating 1000 startups is a vision which the industry will continue to work towards. “As we endeavour towards these goals it is imperative that all stakeholders support the process. Policy level direction, good governance and stability will only facilitate this journey and make the job of its stewards such as SLASSCOM, so much easier,” he added.
He said he hoped President Sirisena will increase the level of importance assigned to the development of the IT, KPO-BPM industry as one of Sri Lanka’s key strategic industries.
