Tharindu, Manjula score tons as Police pile up 500/9
Tharindu Dilshan and Manjula Jayawardena slammed tons as Police SC posted a mammoth 500 for 9 declared against Kalutara PCC on day two in their Emerging Trophy encounter played at the Police Park.
Tharindu’s knock of 126 came off just 92 balls that included 13 boundaries and eight sixes while Manjula was unbeaten on 74 which helped Police SC end day one with a formidable score of 420 for 7. The second day’s play belonged to Manjula who went on to add a further 54 runs to his tally and also added a valuable 156 runs for the eighth wicket with Shehan Shashika for Police SC to pile up the mammoth score.
Kalutara PCC in reply ended day two on 218 for 8. The match will be continued today.
Navy SC was sitting pretty against Kalutara TC in the match played at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona.
A knock of 142 by Amith Eranga saw Navy SC too resuming from their overnight score of 410 for 8 make a formidable score of 470. A magnificent bowling figures of 9 for 37 by Dinushka Malan helped the sailors to bundle out Kalutara TC out for a meagre 106 in their first innings. Kalutara TC batting the second time were 41 for no loss.
Dhanushka Dharmasiri, Chinthaka Jayabandara and Hashan Prabath’s half tons saw Kurunegala YCC batting first make a formidable score of 373 against Panadura SC who resumed from their overnight score of 26 for no loss ended the day on 255 for 9 in the match played at Panadura Esplanade.
Thushira Madanayake slammed a 167 with 21 boundaries and two sixes as Lankan CC resuming on their overnight score of 357 for 8 went on to make a score of 426 against BRC in the match played at the BRC. BRC in reply made a bold reply of 206 for 4.
Galle CC was sitting pretty against Sebastianites CC when play ended on the second day in the match played at Galle. Galle CC set a target of 81 runs for victory ended the day on 11 for no loss needing just 70 more runs when play begins today.
