‘Mage Lowata’: Anniversary Wish for Parents
View(s):‘Mage Lowata’, the latest composition of multi-talented musician Rukshan Karunanayake of ‘Chimes of The 70s’ fame was released last week. The song ‘Mage Lowata’ is dedicated to all parents and it’s sung by young, talented Himasha Perera who is gifted with a lilting voice. This is being the debut song of Himasha and it was composed as a wedding anniversary wish for her parents. The song expresses the feelings of a teen-age girl about her parents and how the parents have been influenced and significant for her life.
The lyrics of the song were penned by UK based Lakmi Prabha Ratnayake and musically accompanied by Rukshan Karunanayake (guitar), Raju Jayakody (keyboards), Condrad de Silva (bass guitar) and Udesha Karunanayake (drums). Rukshan has done all the music arrangements of the song by reviving the style of 70’s Sinhala Pop music genre, which was introduced by late Clarence Wijewardane.
‘The song has received a great response from the audiences after its release and it’s available for preview on Youtube, Facebook, Soundcloud and Ananmanan web music portals’ said Rukshan. In March 2014, Rukshan released a beautiful and moving song ‘Mamath Eka Malak’ for Autism Programme. This global event was launched in 2002 with a historic service at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London by the Sri Lanka-born international autism campaigners Ivan and Charika Corea.
Rukshan had dedicated ‘Mamath Eka Malak’ to their son Charin Corea and all children and young people with autism in Sri Lanka. Rukshan won the GLOBAL AUTISM AWARD from the UK for the first Sinhala autism song in the Commonwealth for 2014.
