One dead, 3 injured in UL cabin crew’s Qatar desert safari tragedy
View(s):A SriLankan Airlines air hostess was killed and three others injured when their vehicle turned turtle during a desert safari ride in Doha, Qatar, yesterday evening, airline officials said.
The remains of the deceased air hostess, Ammendra De Kauwe, a resident of Raddalouwa Housing Scheme, Seeduwa. will be brought to her family home on Monday, Feb. 2.
The other injured persons, including a niece of former Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Neomi Aluthgamage, are presently undergoing emergency treatment at a hospital in Doha, the officials added.The others injured are SriLankan Airlines cabin crew members Hilary Perera and Mohan Wickramasooriya.
Several SriLankan Airlines cabin crew members scheduled to fly back to Sri Lanka last night via flight UL 218, were passengers of the ill-fated vehicle.
In a statement issued yesterday, SriLankan Airlines said it has been informed of a tragic road accident in Doha, Qatar yesterday evening, involving four of its cabin crew members.
“One crew member is confirmed as having succumbed to her injuries, while three others have been hospitalised and reported to be in stable condition.”
