Milinda slams career best knock of 180
A career-best knock of 180 by Badureliya SC skipper Milinda Siriwardena against Colts was the feature of the second day’s proceedings in the Premier league cricket encounter played at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona yesterday.
Milinda, who was unbeaten on 107 on day one, cracked 23 boundaries and a six which helped Badureliya CC, resuming from their overnight score of 214 for 5, to end their innings making a formidable 304.
Later they bowled out the Colts side to a score of 247 to take a first inning lead.
Moors SC too took a first innings lead over Chilaw Marians when play stopped on the second day in the match played at R. Premadasa Stadium.
Moors SC made a formidable score of 355 on day one with Denuwan Rajakaruna making 143 inclusive of 15 boundaries and five sixes. He also put on a 103-run stand for the seventh wicket with Kosala Kulasekera.
Chilaw Marians in reply, despite a knock of 81 coming from Vidura Adikari, was restricted to a score of 260.
In the match played at the CCC ground Saracens SC, resuming from their overnight score of 132 for 4, went on to make a score of 192 in reply to CCC’s 181 to take a first inning lead.
SLPA CC having dominated proceedings on day one against SSC continued to keep up the momentum and put themselves in a strong position when play ended on day two in the match at the NCC ground.
SLPA CC resuming from their overnight score of 160 for 5 was guided by an unbeaten knock of 74 by Shanuka Dissanayake which helped them make a score of 286 in reply t o SSC’s 185.
SSC batting the second time ended the day on 192 for 7 and they now have a lead of just 91 runs.
Bloomfield was in a strong position against Air Force SC in the match played at the Air Force ground in Katunayake. The second day’s proceedings saw Bloomfield, continuing from their overnight score of 80 for 3 steered by Nipun Karunanayake, going to make a formidable score of 305. Air Force SC batting the second time was struggling on 148 for 9.
NCC after being in a healthy position of 295 for 2 collapsed as they lost the remaining eight wickets for the addition of only 49 runs. They scored 344 after bowling out Tamil Union to a score of 252 at P. Sara Stadium.
NCC’s innings was studded with a quick fire-knock of 108 by Niroshan Dickwella who hit 13 boundaries. Besides Dickwella, Pawan Wickramasinghe made 103 with six boundaries and five sixes. The pair put on a 156 runs stand for the second wicket.
