Father of two falls to his death

Colombo City Coroner Ashrof Rumy ordered the Kotahena police to produce statements to the Coroner’s Court on February 16 regarding a death of a father of two who had fallen from the upper floor of a house. The victim -Tuan Alabdeen was an employee of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation and a resident at Kotahena Housing Square.

The victim’s sister giving evidence at the Coroners Court said, the victim –her 42-year-old brother- had fallen from the upper storey of her house at around 11.00 p.m. She said the height of the building he had fallen off was around 20 ft. high. She added that, at the time of the incident a birthday party was in progress.

She mentioned that the victim and his two children lived with her and her family as his wife was working overseas. In her evidence she said the balcony on the upper floor did not have any protection.  The victim who sustained severe injuries to his head was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of the National Hospital where he died the following day.
Dr. Adhikaram -a Judicial Medical Officer of the National Hospital- who conducted the post mortem, confirmed death was due to a fall and death was caused by severe injuries to the head.
